The Prose-Stigious Poet Festival in the Dezart

(April 3 – June 5, 2011)

Palm Springs, CA – Dozens of fine and cultural arts enthusiasts are expected to make their way to Palm Springs Backstreet Art District for a first-class spoken word adventure. Dezart, deemed The Desert Sun’s “Best of the Valley” pick of 2007, kicks off what may just be Palm Springs’ first poetry festival in April, National Poetry Month. The Prose-Stigious Poet Festival is supported by Poets and Writers, Inc. through a grant it has received from the James Irvine Foundation, and by its First-Class Sponsor, Delhi Palace Cuisine of India.

Hosted by local poets, Carolyn Rude and Dezert Bronz, The Prose-Stigious Poet Festival is a 3-month celebration (Dates: April 3, May 1, June 5) showcasing the timeless class, power and value of poetry through the original spoken works of a prominent and esteemed poet once a month, culminating each event with a dynamic open mic poetry session. All events will be held on the first Sunday of each month at 4:30pm in Dezart Studio. Admission is free and open to the public. Complimentary light fare refreshments will be available. Festival attendees may enjoy as spectators, or give voice to a myriad of artistic styles and perspectives on the open mic for 2-3 minutes. A sign-up sheet will be available at each event until full. Limited seating. Arrive early.

“This event is not just for poets. We’re reaching out to the larger audience – lovers of jazz, theatre, dance, film and the symphony – students and intellectuals. Poetry is the zenith of culture – it brings everyone together – and everyone should experience its spoken power.”

– Co-Host, Dezert Bronz

Visiting Students

Gave a presentation to 40 university students from The Johnson & Wales University, Providence RI today.
They are all getting degrees in Special Events & Entertainment. Their enthusiasm and knowledge of sustainability and “green” was amazing!

This is the future of our Special Events Industry – they will lead us into a green and sustainable future. I think the future will be in good hands!

I invite your input, ideas, comments and questions on producing and designing eco-friendly green events. I am hoping to include some of your comments or share your ideas in my presentations around the country not just on greening events but ALL the challenges we face in the special events industry and America as a whole. I will try to answer all your questions or at least point you to someone who is an expert in their field for their opinion.

To start a new subject please email me and I will post it so everyone can comment on it
